Department of Justice approves the Google-Motorola deal

Following the confirmation that Europe approved the acquisition of Motorola Mobility by Google, Reuters is also reporting that the Department of Justice in the United States has stamped their seal of approval for the same deal. The Department of Justice has issued a statement saying that the $12.5 billion deal will not affect the competition let alone, substantially lessen it. This is a primary criteria for such regulatory bodies in order to make a solid decision.

Motorola Mobility features over 17,000 patents not including the 6,800 pending applications filed on IPO’s internationally.

Self Guided Smart Bullets now exist says the US Military

Which was once a thing of the Sci-Fi movies has now become to a reality thanks to the US Military as Self Guided Smart Bullets are now confirmed to be in circulation with a range of over a mile or about 2,000 meters to be exact.

The applications of the said bullet is limitless if you think about it as it could change it’s course automatically during flight to adjust to a moving target.

However, the said bullets can also be dangerous if fallen into the wrong hands.

WOWee ONE and MicroVision to make a mobile projector/speaker device

Makers of portable speakers, WOWee ONE, and the pioneer in miniature laser display technology MicroVision is reported to be teaming up to bring a new device that will enable tablet and smartphone users to project their screen on a portable projector on-the-go and with WOWee One’s speaker technology, it will also have some awesome audio.

Unfortunately, this is still on the drawing board as of now so there are no details yet on an actual release date nor a projected timeframe.

Samsung may lead the pack this year in terms of cellphone manufacturing

After Nokia’s 14-year long reign, it looks as though Samsung is ready to overthrow the Finnish handset maker this year. After an excellent 2011 for the Korean-based company, Samsung’s Chief executive Choi Gee-sung is confident that they can hold their position as number one after surpassing Nokia’s sales.

Samsung has been very successful with their Galaxy line which most notably the Samsung Galaxy S 2 and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 producing sales of magnate proportions.

Benzitech, a company known to make mobile accessories for smartphones and tablets have announced their newest line of cases and battery packs for the iPhone and iPad.

The iDry waterproof case features an airtight seal to protect your gadgets from water including submersion of up to 30 feet. This will make your iPad and iPhone usable in the pool or the beach.

The battery packs come in the form of these handy cases that would give your iPad or iPhone an added battery life when needed. Each product features a 220mAh battery and an LED indicator.

No price has been announced as of yet but they are set to release March of 2012.

Razer announces Project Fiona, a PC Gaming tablet

While CES event is mainly about mobile, a few companies have also taken interest in the event to introduce their own products to the market. Enter Razer, the gaming company who produce state-of-the-art gaming PC’s have introduced Project Fiona, their new PC Gaming tablet.

Project Fiona will have a 10.1″ screen with a pixel resolution of 1200 x 800. Audio will come in the form of Dolby 7.1 surround sound while connectivity options include WiFi, Bluetooth and more.

Dual controllers will be fitted on both sides of the device which will also serve as the device’s grip for a better gaming experience.

AT&T announces the HTC Titan II

AT&T’s CEO himself made the pleasure of announcing the new HTC Titan II to be added to their line-up during the CES event. The device will be a Windows Phone and will feature a 4.7 inch WVGA display.

It’s processor will come in the form of a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon processor and will have support for AT&T’s 4G LTE network. There’s a 16-megapixel camera fitted on it’s back while a 1.3 megapixel is found on the front.

No launch date or pricing has been confirmed but it is expected to come within the next couple of quarters.

AT&T announces 3 budget Android devices

AT&T has announced during the CES 2012 event three new budget Android devices for the market with all being equipped with 4G LTE.

The first one is the Pantech Element Android tablet which will be made available for $300 on a contract and will feature an 8-inch screen with a 1.5 GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor. The device will be released late this month.

The next is the Pantech Burst smartphone that will cost you $50 with a two-year contract and will be featuring a 4-inch AMOLED display while Android 2.3 Gingerbread will be running the show.

The last one is the Samsung Exhilarate which is made out of 80% recycled materials and will be featuring a 4-inch WVGA Super AMOLED display. The Exhilarate will come with a $50 price tag with a two-year plan.

The Sony Xperia ion featured

Sony together with AT&T has announced one of the first smartphones that will drop the name “Ericsson” in his certificate and will be called the Sony Xperia ion.

The phone will feature a 1.5 GHz screen with a pixel resolution of 1280 x 720 and feature’s the company’s Reality Display which in all sense of the word, Sony’s best mobile screen.

The camera will come in the form of a 12 megapixel one plus a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera capable of 720p video recording. It’s internal storage comes in the form of  a 16GB internal storage with a microSD card capable of supporting up to 32GB.

Amazon Silk Browser successfully ported to some Android devices

For those who don’t know, the Silk Browser is one of Amazon Kindle Fire’s top features. One of it’s unique features is the ability of the service to use Amazon’s cloud infrastructure to deliver a better experience.

Now, a group of developers who call themselves the TyHi have successfully ported the browser to a number of Android devices, rendering the service available to some Android users.

Those interested need only to download the packed file available from them, then unpacking them to your Android device to install.
